A RIO 2016 hopeful paid a visit to Ardrossan Academy for Sport Relief last week.

Team GB and European Champion boccia player Jamie McCowan generously gave up his time to talk to pupils from the school and perform a demonstration of his sport, even going head to head with a few lucky students. Boccia is a ball game similar to the French pétanque.

The star boccia player donned a Sport Relief T-shirt as he showed pupils that anyone can get involved in sport.

Jamie said: “I really enjoyed visiting Ardrossan Academy today in support of Sport Relief.

“It was great to see the kids so engaged with sport and I really hope it inspires many of them to get involved in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.” “The money raised will go to some fantastic projects supporting vulnerable people right here in Scotland, throughout the UK and across the world.”
