AUCHENHARVIE Academy held another successful football tournament recently, once again organised by the local campus police.

This is the fifth year they have held this event, bringing all the community primary schools in the cluster together. The idea is to bring pupils together to form links and friendships with young people from the other schools while enjoying taking part in the competition.

Campus PC Frazer Mitchell said: “Local community events such as this are great for preparing the young people for the transition to the senior school in the future and forging stronger links between the police, the community and all the other agencies involved.

“On behalf of Police Scotland, I would like to give thanks to all those who took part in this event. I would also like to thank Auchenharvie Academy’s senior pupils Jack McAllister and Jonathon Liddy who helped with the planning and preparation for this event as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. I also thank Norrie Brown, Youth Worker, Anne Marie Hunter from Active Schools and the 4th year boys who helped as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. I would also like to thank Julie Fleeting MBE for presenting the prizes to the winners.”
