THREE bearded regulars of the Nonsuch Snooker Club in Saltcoats decided to come clean for charity recently – raising a fantastic £700 for Leukaemia Research.
Local businessman Jimmy Graham, writer Angus Shoor Caan and builder Brian Maxwell went under the razor in the club on Grand National Day so there was a good crowd assembled to give encouragement.
Gus was the only genuine ‘beardie’ in the trio but Jimmy and Brian decided to grow some face fuzz especially for the occasion.
Gemma Keenan, manager of the Nonsuch said: “We had a really good laugh although it was a bit of a trial for Jimmy and Brian to have to grow beards and even more so for their kids.
“One of Brian’s kids wanted to be adopted and another completely disowned him!
“Gus has come out of it a lot better as everybody says he look 10 years younger.”
