Grass roots sports in North Ayrshire are poised to enjoy their very own golden day when the annual KA Leisure Community Games come to St Matthew’s Campus, Saltcoats on Saturday, August 30.

One of the area’s premier multi-sports events, the Community Games are certain to attract hundreds of participants and spectators, all fresh from witnessing Glasgow stage the greatest Commonwealth Games ever.

North Ayrshire, like the rest of Scotland, is still basking in the success of our team and the positive verdict from everyone involved in the inspirational Glasgow event last month.

The Saltcoats event will provide an opportunity for people to come and try a new sport or speak to local clubs who can give them the chance to take part more regularly.

Live Music and a host of fun events like the live performance from Premier British Wrestling’s top Stars, including Stevenston’s Grado, will add to the party atmosphere and make it a day to remember.

The fun starts at 11am and lasts until 4pm.

The list of Come and Try sports includes: Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Dance, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Indoor Bowls, In-Line Skating/Scooters, Karate, Netball and Outdoor Climbing.

There’s also a 1K Family Fun Run - starts at 12pm - to help burn a few extra calories on the day!

Local sports tournaments in Football, Ladies Hockey 7s, Children’s Football, North Ayrshire Athletics Club Championships and Mini-Rugby will give spectators the chance to cheer on their local favourites.
