AN ARDROSSAN man has been fined after being caught with a Class B drug in Kilmarnock.

Charles Quinn, 22, of Mariners View, was observed by police at 12.30am leaving the toilets in the Palace Theatre in an agitated state.

The court heard how he was fumbling with his pockets and had dilated pupils. He was detained under the misuse of drugs act and a bag of white powder was found on his person although he refused to say what it was.

It was tested and came up negative for cocaine and was then taken out its packaging and found to weigh 1.78g and tested positive for methylmethcathinone, also know as Miaow Miaow, and was valued at around £30 or £40, according to Quinn’s lawyer.

Sheriff Watson said: “If you keep getting found with drugs, the sentences will progressively increase.” He then fined Quinn £350 for the offence which took place in December of last year.

This took place whilst Quinn was on bail and £60 of the fine was put in place for the bail aggravation.
