ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers are pleading with locals to keep off the grass as they prepare to re-turf the area around the penalty box – for the THIRD time since the end of last season.

The Stagecoach District League side kicked off their home camapaign against Craigmark a couple of weeks ago and managed to go through the whole 2013/14 season without having a home match postponed.

Now vice-chairman Pat Breen is urging those using the pitch for recreation to go elsewhere.

Pat said: “We are urging everyone to stay off the park.

"We are now having to re-turf the damaged part of the field for the third time.

"It’s not a public pitch but we don’t want to get the police involved so we are asking for people to please stay off the pitch.” He warned that if the park was in use when it wasn’t supposed to be, then damage could be caused, leading to unnecessary expense.

In the worst case scenario, matches could be cancelled, which nobody wanted.

Pat added: “We’ve spend a lot of money on the surface on the last two years and we pride ourselves in it but we don’t want to continue to do it.

"There are plenty of other places to play.” Winton are in the hunt for promotion this season and will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend when they host Kello Rovers at Winton Park.
