POLICE have thanked the local community following an arrest in connection with a theft by a bogus caller in Ardrossan last week.
A 70-year-old man was duped into allowing a woman to enter his house in Barrie Terrace after she claimed she was from the council’s Social Work Department She managed to distract the man during their conversation and when she left, he discovered a two figure sum of money missing.
A 22-year-old woman from Saltcoats has been arrested following the positive lines of enquiry.
Police Scotland said: “We would like to thank all those who assisted with information following our appeal.”
