LOCAL horse riders from Eglinton Pony Club Mounted Games Team have qualified for the Horse of The Year Show at the NEC, Birmingham this week to compete for the prestigious Prince Philip Cup.
Two hundred and fifty teams started out at the beginning of the year and only six teams have qualified.
Eglinton is the only Scottish team to qualify and the club have not qualified since 2007 – a fantastic achievement, The team includes brother and sister Callum, 15, and Heather Wylie, 12, who both attend Garnock Academy and Natasha McKee, 13, from Auchenharvie Academy.
Trained by John Nairn, the kids have been working hard over the last few weeks and parents, friends and family have been fundraising to allow the kids to have a fantastic experience and enjoy their once in a lifetime dream.
They would like to thank all the local businesses who have contributed to this.
The show will be televised by Sky TV from tomorrow (Thursday, October 9) through to Sunday evening at 8pm.
