POLICE Scotland confirmed today that the body found on Cannon Hill in Ardrossan on September 30 is missing man John Watt.
Mr Watt had been missing for over two months when the discovery was made near to Ardrossan Castle by police officers and the mountain rescue team.
The grim find came hours after Ayrshire Police Division had made a fresh appeal for information about Mr Watt’s whereabouts.
The 53-year-old lived in Glasgow Street close to the castle.
There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
His family have been informed.
