A SALTCOATS student is Ayrshire College’s Business and IT Student of the Year.

Kayleigh Cahill, 24, who is studying for an HND in Business Management, previously studied interior design at the college.

Although she enjoyed the course, she decided it wasn’t for her.

Later, some experience working in the retail industry sparked an interest in business management.

After seeing an advert for Ayrshire College she decided she wanted to learn more about business so enrolled on the HND course.

Kayleigh said: “I’ve found the course really interesting and I have had an excellent time at college.

“The course exceeded my expectations, the lecturers were really helpful and encouraged me to continue my education further.

“My confidence has grown in my time at college.

“This has helped boost my presentation skills, enabled me to speak in large groups and to work confidently as part of a team.

“I am very grateful to have been awarded this prize.

“It is a great achievement for me and I’m excited to have been recognised for my hard work.

“It has given me an extra confidence boost ahead of joining Glasgow Caledonian University to study a business degree.” Kayleigh’s lecturer said: “Kayleigh is an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who always gives her best.

“She takes a great pride in her work and nothing is ever too much trouble.

“Kayleigh has a very positive attitude to learning and is always keen to improve.

“She has developed a very high level of organisational skills which she is always willing to use to help others.

“She is highly motivated and puts a great deal of effort into anything she is involved in.

“She sets very high standards for herself and is always willing to go the extra mile.

“During her two years at college, she has been a delight to have in class.”
