A LUCKY Saltcoats baking fan who scooped £70,000 on a National Lottery Scratchcard will soon be whipping up culinary creations in her dream kitchen.

Laura Smith, 34, plans to use her windfall to buy a family home complete with spacious kitchen.

Mum of two Laura bought the scratchcard when she was shopping in the Ardrossan branch of Asda last Monday morning (6 October). She scratched the card when she got out to her car and couldn’t believe it when she matched the Lucky Number.

Laura explained: “I went back into the store to get them to double check I had actually won.

“The assistant said I would need to go home and phone The National Lottery to validate the ticket.

“When I went into the house the first thing I did was tell my husband and then I got straight on the phone to make sure it was true.” Laura and her husband James, 36, a gardener, have been dreaming of a larger home for their growing family for some time, and now, thanks to their life-changing win, can see their dream becoming a reality.

Laura continued: “We have needed a bigger house for a while now. We rent at the moment and have been told it will be over a year before a larger property will become available. This win means we can go out and buy the new home we need; it’s a big weight off our shoulders.” And of course Laura will be making sure the kitchen is up to scratch for a Star Baker.

Laura said: “I was so disappointed when I somehow managed to miss the Great British Bake Off final the other week but this more than makes up for it!

“The kids love to bake too and now we will be able to have our own dream kitchen that we can enjoy together.”
