Two people were taken to hospital following a house fire in Ardrossan this morning (Wednesday).
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews from Ardrossan Community Fire Station were sent to the town’s McKellar Avenue in response to a 999 call received shortly before 9.30am.
Firefighters arrived within three minutes to find police officers at the scene had requested an ambulance for a man and woman.
They appeared to suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke and received treatment from firefighters and a first response paramedic before being taken to Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock.
The fire was quickly extinguished by a team of four firefighters who had been committed to the property wearing breathing apparatus and equipped with two high pressure jets.
