TIME is running out to donate to the Barclays Christmas trolley appeal.

Fiona Fitzsimmons, who works in the Saltcoats store, has helped with the event which is now in its second year. She said: “ Barclays are very committed to giving back to the community and all the staff are encouraged to get involved with community projects. I chose Women’s Aid as my sister-in-law used to volunteer at a refuge years ago and the experiences of some of the women were really harrowing.

“Many of them have to flee their homes the second an opportunity arises and often have children with them. At this time of year it’s especially difficult for them as they are often struggling financially and can’t buy gifts or even something as small as a selection box. It’s lovely to be able to give something back at Christmas time and spread a bit of cheer to people who’ve had some horrible times to deal with.

“As you know this is the second year we’ve done this and last year we were so grateful for the generosity of local people and I know their gifts were hugely appreciated by the recipients.”
