EARLIER this week Ardrossan was being mentioned on social media over and over again after seven whales were washed up onto the beach.
But it was Ardrossan in South Australia and not the West coast of Scotland.
On Twitter there were numerous pictures of the tragic creatures and some people began to make the assumption that they mammoth beasts were in the seaside town, not the other side of the world.
Ardrossan’s Coastguard team were on hand to provide updates to locals and calls and reports started coming in to them.
According the experts, once the whales are beached there is little chance of them being saved and one marine biogolist told a newspaper in Australia that she hadn’t seen anything like this in her 30 year career.
