A STEVENSTON woman who rushed at a pub door after she was refused entry then swore at police officers has been fined.

Violet Graig was charged with using  “sexually offensive” language after being taken to Saltcoats Police Office.

The unemployed 27-year-old mother, who lives in New Street, was out with a friend in Saltcoats on December 6 when CCTV operators alerted police to a disturbance in Dockhead Street where Graig was attempting to rush at the door of the Albion Bar.

Police attended at the scene and she swore at them, calling them “f*****g f*****s”.

She was then issued with a fixed penalty notice but continued to swear before being taken to the police station.

At the charge bar, Graig continued to shout and swear and abused a female police officer, telling her: “F**k off, you’re nothing but a f*****g lesbian.” At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, Ms Donnelly, defending, said  Graig admitted the charge and insisted alcohol was the catalyst.

She said: “They were on a night out in Saltcoats but that wasn’t their original plan. She remembers being refused entry and the police getting involved but doesn’t remember anything afterwards.” Sheriff McDonald said: “Alcohol is at the root of this and police attempted to give you a fixed penalty. You’re a first offender so I will deal with this by way of a financial penalty.” Graig was fined £260.
