NORTH Ayrshire Council is considering relocating its day care provision for adults with learning disabilities from Fergushill in Kilwinning to the Three Towns a source told the Herald this week.
The project is believed to have a budget of around £6million and a site between Auchenharvie Academy and K A Leisure complex in Stevenston is currently being considered.
Fergushill Day Centre is a resource for adults over 18 with learning disabilities and is currently registered to provide day services for 90 people with complex needs. It has around 38 members of staff.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday: “North Ayrshire Council have approved the building of a new day centre for people with learning disabilities.
“We are looking at a number of potential sites and will carry out public consultations on this in the near future.”
