TWO more retail sites will be opening up in Stevenston after we revealed that Costa Coffee would be bringing a drive-thru to the town last week.

Marston’s pubs and KFC are the latest new arrivals to the town, we can exclusively reveal this week.

The fast food chain will have a plot of land but it is unclear at this stage when they will be opening or how many new jobs will be made as a result of this.

Costa Coffee are looking to be the first unit opened on the site next to the Pennyburn Roundabout and after they confirmed they are aiming to open the store in November of this year.

A spokesperson said: “Costa, the nation’s favourite coffee shop, are pleased to announce that we are opening a brand new store on Castlehill Road, Stevenston in November 2015, bringing 10-15 new jobs to the local area.

"As with all of our new store openings, we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”  Marston’s pubs and restaurants are located throughout the United Kingdom with around 2,000 branches up and down the country, now they plan on bringing a 180-seater carvery family restaurant and pub with a view to creating 40 new part and full-time jobs.

The restaurant is to open in March of next year with other retailers possibly going to be opening on the site too.

Planning permission has been granted on this site for numerous different retail units over the past 20 years but now it seems as if building work is going to get under way.

Overall, planning permission has been granted for the roadside services development comprising of a 27-bedroom hotel, a family bar/restaurant, a fast food outlet, a coffee shop and three small retail units, with uses restricted to being ancillary to roadside services.  As of yet, it is not been revealed who would operate the hotel or the smaller retail units but it is clear that the ball is rolling on the site.
