FORMER Prime Minister Gordon Brown is coming to Ardrossan on Sunday to kick-off Labour’s election campaign.

The Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP will address a rally in support of current North Ayrshire and Arran MP Katy Clark’s re-election campaign.

Brown, who was Prime Minister between 2007 and 2010,  will speak on Labour’s vision for an alternative to the current Tory-led Government’s austerity programme in the St Peters Parish Centre, South Crescent Road, Ardrossan, on Sunday at 4pm.   Speaking about the event, Katy Clark said: “It is great that Gordon Brown will be returning to North Ayrshire in support of my re-election for a campaign rally.

“This General Election is a clear choice between a Labour and a Tory Government.

“With this election being the closest in a generation, it is vital that we return as many Labour MPs as possible to help stop another five years of Tory austerity.  “We will be holding the meeting in St Peter’s Parish Centre in Ardrossan this Sunday at 4pm to hear about Labour’s plans for increasing the minimum wage, defending our public services and tackling unemployment.

“If constituents wish to attend they can register on my website at www.katyclark.org.uk/gordon_brown or by telephone on 07827 962 960.

“As demand is likely to be very high, it is vital that anyone hoping to attend registers their interest.”
