A SALTCOATS post office that has been shut for over a month is due to re-open at the start of next week.  The Adams Avenue store was closed on a temporary basis back in February and the Herald revealed last week that residents have been up in arms over the lack of information being passed on from The Post Office.

Users have been forced to travel to Saltcoats Town Centre to use the Post Office there.  North Ayrshire and Arran Labour MP Katy Clark was contacted by concerned locals when the Post Office first closed and campaigned on their behalf.

This week, she welcomed the news that it will be back in action.  The MP said: “I know local people have been disappointed that the Post Office closed and I am therefore pleased that progress is being made in getting it re-opened.

“Local Post Offices provide a vital community service, particularly to vulnerable people.

“The quicker we can get the Adams Avenue Post Office re-opened for the local community the better.”
