A SALTCOATS woman has been rubbing shoulders with the top brass in the technology industry after she attended an awards ceremony in London last Tuesday.  Heather Craig, 20, who works for IBM Greenock as an Infrastructure Specialist, was on the shortlist of three at the Every Woman in Technology awards which were held in the Hilton on Park Lane.  Heather described the experience as ‘inspirational’ and although she didn’t win ‘The One to Watch’ category, she has taken many positives from the event.  Attending with her older brother Curtis, who also works with IBM, the former Ardrossan Academy pupil, met with other industry leaders and had a pre-recorded video streamed in front of over 400 people who attended the swanky night.  After she was nominated by her manager, Heather was included in the final three and the other two were privately educated teenagers.  She said: “The people there had great eminence and were asking how I got into the industry.

"I’ve connected with some people who are high up in IBM, including Vice-Presidents.”  Heather is the only woman in Scotland who has her job title and will be guaranteed a job once she completes her apprenticeship.

As well as industry experts, there was also a guest appearance from Jermaine Jackman who won series three of BBC talent show, The Voice.
