A STEVENSTON man has been jailed for stealing two televisions. Alex Smith, 35, of Sinclair Street, admitted the charge which occurred in December of last year. Smith took the televisions from Ardrossan’s Asda store. Sheriff Brian Murphy asked how big the televisions were and the Procurator Fiscal said: “They can’t have been too big because he did try and run out with them!” Sheriff Murphy said afterwards: “He has an awful record for shoplifting.” Douglas Wright, defending, said he had a serious drug problem and when this occurred he had a relapse with drugs.
He had not been doing well and now finds himself back in jail, he’ll be out in four months time. He’s been talking to those in jail who might help him. Sheriff Murphy sentenced Smith to four months imprisonment.
