KIND HEARTED locals have gathered together to rally behind Stevenston teenager Ainslie Mitchell, who is battling against cancer.

The 16-year-old took part in a 10k trot with other horse riders before being whisked away on Easter Monday, by limo no less, to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing stay in Cameron House near Loch Lomond.

On the day, there were 24 horses and riders with loads of walkers all leaving from Ardeer Stables, Stevenston for a 10k ride/walk to raise money and show support to the brave young girl who is fighting this horrible illness.

Ainslie was diagnosed in late December and within a few months has gone through two sessions of four-day intense chemotherapy and has since started her third session.

But she has refused to let it get her down and even said she wanted to give some of the money raised back to charity.

Ainslie has a great love of horses and rides regularly and she also took part and rode the whole 10k.

On the day, a raffle was organised by Helen McGoogan and raised a fantastic £500.

Michelle said: “It’s just been amazing, the generosity of some people and we’d like to thank A1 Limos, Stirrat Stores, Gill’s Bistro, Sweet Treats by Senga and the Meney Family for their fantastic work and of course all the horses and their riders on the day that will keep a smile on a young girls face for a long time to come.” There is yet to be an official total yet but it is coming close to the region of a whopping £2,000.

Thanks also go to the Trustees of the Mary Leishman Foundation for their donation, to Cameron House who provided a complimentary flight on the Loch Lomond Seaplane and a Cruise on the Loch and to the Morris Equestrian Centre for providing a wonderful day out with horses and a beautful meal for Ainslie and her family and finally to Equiscot Photography for capturing some beautfiul moments.
