A PROJECT to install ‘talking phone boxes’ in Ardrossan has taken a leap forward.
Two old style red phone boxes have been restored by the Discovering Ardrossan Through The Ages group with the help of Kilmarnock Powder Coating Services and Clyde Marina.
The phone boxes were returned to Ardrossan Youth Centre last week looking as good as new and ready for the next phase of the project.
The booths will be used as micro-exhibition spaces with old photographs and recorded memories of the town sited at Ardrossan Youth Centre and the Church of the Nazarene.
Over the last few months residents have been interviewed to capture their memories of Ardrossan for listening to in the audio phone boxes. But they are still looking for more people to talk to.
If you have any memories you want to share you are welcome to go along to Ardrossan Youth centre on Wednesdays between 4pm and 6pm.
Topics they are particularly interested in are industry, farming, schools and the castle.
The group hopes the phone boxes will be available from the end of May.
