THE Three Towns community came together in an all-day musical extravanganza on Saturday in support of North Ayrshire Foodbank.

The Turn Up The Volume on Poverty event at the New Flask in Saltcoats featured a host of local musical talent as well as some out of towners, attracting more than 200 guests.

Over £400 was raised to present to the Foodbank along with a van load of donated food items.

Local band the Well Fired Rolls were the brains behind the benefit gig.

Guitarist Michael Scott Junior said: “I was delighted with turn out and the kindness people have shown.

“The event was organised with no budget, just a host of like-minded people coming together to raise awareness on poverty and the foodbank and why we have them in the first place.

“There are over 400 foodbanks in the UK and over a million parcels were handed out last year.” Shaun and Myleene Donnelly owners of the Flask were also over the moon with the how the day went.  Michael continued: “They’ve never seen the venue so busy on both floors the whole day long.

"They were great hosts and looked after the musicians and volunteers all day providing drinks whilst running a very busy bar.” Turn Up The Volume on Poverty will be in Kilmarnock on Sunday, December 13 for a special ‘Folk for Christmas’ show at the Bellfield Tavern and the WFRs are already planning bigger and better events for 2016.
