THE whole school took part in Auchenharvie Academy’s annual sponsored walk recently – many of them in fancy dress. The walk started and finished at the school on Friday, September 18. However, pupils and teachers walked a tiring 10 kilometres along the beach to Irvine and back. Luckily, they hade a beautiful day for it. As well as pupils and teachers walking to Irvine, some also ran the 10k along the beach and back. Every year the event becomes more competitive between the staff and pupils. However this year it was an S6 pupil, Dillon Agnew, who completed the run first in just over an hour, which is a great achievement. Second place was S5 pupil Jack McWilliam and third place was S6 pupil Jack Ewing. Mr Muirhead was the first member of staff to complete the race. Congratulations to all the runners for their determination and success. As per usual, all S6 pupils made a great effort with their fancy dress costumes for their last ever sponsored walk to raise more money. There was a wide spread range of costumes this year. For example, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, crayons, a panda, The Power Puff Girls, Ed Sheeran and fairy tale characters. Thank you to all who took part in the walk and to all who helped out at checkpoints and back at the school. It was a great day for all and the money raised goes towards school funds to help us subsidise school trips and events.
