Officers were called after a blue BMW 1 series car was travelling northbound on New Trows Road, near Hollandbush Golf Club, when it left the carriageway and smashed into a tree.

Emergency services attended and found four people in the car.

The 16-year-old male in the passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and two other passengers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Staff describe their condition as serious, but stable, at this time.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald:

The road was closed for around six hours while investigations were carried out.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Glasgow pal, Bronwyn Mcgregor, started a fundraising page on behalf of Jack’s brother James.

The page is aiming to raise £3,000 in order to pay for funeral costs. In just 15 hours, Jack’s loved ones have come together to raise just over £1,200.

A short statement on the GoFundMe page reads: “On the 10/02/19 sadly Jack was involved in a fatal road accident.

“We would like to raise funds to help the family toward funeral costs and any other expenses. Nothing will help their pain or bring Jack back although hopefully this can contribute in some way.

“Let’s give him the best send of [sic] that is possible.

“RIP Jack, one in a million.

“Love, your brother, James.”

Local sports team Lesmahagow AFC paid a touching tribute to the tragic teen.

The team wrote on its Facebook page hours after his death: “The minute’s silence at today’s match was for young Jack Frame who tragically lost his life in a car accident last night. Devastating news and puts things into perspective. Thinking about his family at this horrible time.”

Another pal wrote: “Rest easy, wee Jack. You were some boy. My heart goes out to the Frame family. Thinking of yous all.”
