WEST Kilbride girl Lilian Waters had a real pony tale to tell when she visited the Film and Comic Con Glasgow event at the intu Braehead Arena recently.

The eight-year-old was dressed as Princess Celestia from My Little Pony as she joined thousands of other film and comic fans who turned up for the convention, formerly known as Collectormania.

The amazing outfit was created by her mum, Iona who used bits of a scooter, toy horse, foam from an old bed and a onesie to transform Lilian into Princess Celestia.

Lilian could also have been forgiven for thinking it was a Star Wars Mall-ennium Falcon spacecraft that had landed at intu Braehead.

And more than a few heads turned when Darth Vader and some Imperial Stormtroopers were spotted strolling through the mall.

Thousands of film and comic fans came along to meet the stars of movies and TV series like Star Wars, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Game of Thrones, Nightmare on Elm Street and Aliens.

And there were also dozens of other fans who dressed as characters from their favourite films and TV shows.

The film and TV show fans flocked to hundreds of stalls set up in Braehead Arena, which is a venue for concerts, world championship boxing matches, Davis Cup tennis tournaments and is home to the Braehead Clan ice hockey team – to snap up movie memorabilia and sought-after rare comics.

Marketing manager for intu Braehead, Christine Macdonald said: “There’s a warm welcome for everyone when they come to intu Braehead – even Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers from the Galactic Empire!

“The Film and Comic Con event at our Arena has been very popular and the fans dressed as characters from the movies certainly caught the eye as they did some shopping before heading off back home to a galaxy far, far away.”
