ONE of North Ayrshire’s most popular tourist spots was blighted at the weekend after campers left a barrage of mess behind them.
It is not clear where those who left the mess came from but locals voiced their anger on social media after the photograph (below right) was posted.
Portencross was left strewn with litter, tents and general mess but it was cleared up quickly - thanks to North Ayrshire Council’s Streetscene team.
Although there were complaints online, nobody contacted the council directly but their team was out and about in the area on Sunday and cleared up the mess.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We received no complaints about this issue, however, our Streetscene Operations Team spotted the mess and cleared it up on Sunday, April 22, while in the area on regular maintenance work.”
