THE 'David and Goliath' campaign from volunteers, environmental groups and councillors to prevent a coal-fired power station being built at Hunterston continues following a pre-inquiry meeting last week.

About 250 people, including representatives from Communities Opposed to New Coal at Hunterston (CONCH), OSPB, WWF, NAC and residents, attended the meeting at the Seamill Hydro on Wednesday, June 13 to discuss their concerns about the £2 billion project.

Ayrshire Power, which is owned by Peel Energy, want to build the plant with experimental carbon capture and storage technology at Hunterston, and the firm has vowed to press on with their plans despite 20,000 objections.
