OLYMPIC DREAM
A KILWINNING man will have a unique view of the Olympic Games from behind the scenes when he heads to the sidelines to care for top athletes and members of the public during the summer event.
John Miller, an Occupational Health Advisor with EDF Energy at Hunterston B Power Station, has been sponsored by the company to work at the Games, including the opening ceremony this Friday.
The 42-year-old said: "I'll have three main roles at the Olympics as a nurse, first responder, and in field of play. As a first responder I could be in any stadium to respond to any emergency from a member of the public. At the field of play I'll be dealing with athletes, whither on the track or at the swimming pool and in the nurse zone I'll be in charge of a specific area where I'll be a first aider working 10 to 12 hour shifts."
