A SEAMILL man is set to face trial next year after he was charged with assault.
Gordon Charles McLaughlin, who is 66, and lives in Ardrossan Road, allegedly assaulted a man and attempted to strike him with a plank of wood.
The offence is said to have been aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation.
McLaughlin denied the offence when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and now will face trial in June.
