Scottish Junior Cup Second Round Replay
SHETTLESTON 1
KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 1
A REPLAY is needed at Valefield  Park on Saturday to decide this Scottish Junior Cup tie after it ended in stalemate at Greenfield Park.
In the wet and blustery conditions, it was Shettleston who had the first chance when Mark Staunton gave the ball away and Parker got in behind the visiting defence on the left but he shot weakly at  visiting goalie Kieran Hughes who saved easily.
Five minutes later David Anderson linked up with Ian Gold who slipped the ball to Darren Miller and he fired in a low shot which Halliwell touched round the post.
From the resulting corner-kick Gold headed over from 12 yards.
With 15 minutes played Parker won a corner for Shettleston after his effort was deflected wide. From the resulting corner the ball found its way to Campbell but his effort came back off the referee and rebounded up field to Darren Miller. He managed to get a pass away to Kieran Brannan just before he was taken out but the referee allowed play to continue and he fed the ball through to Stevie Meechan who ran in on goal before firing a powerful shot, which Halliwell got a hand to but couldn’t stop, high into the net.
Meechan again tested Halliwell on the half hour whem Anderson found him with a pass on the edge of the box where he turned and fired in a low shot which was saved by the Shettleston keeper.
In 38 minutes Halliday found himself in space but his effort was deflected over the bar.
A minute later Brannan combined with Stevie Meechan on the edge of the box before Brannan fired in a left foot volley which was saved by Halliwell in the Shettleston goal.
Kilbirnie started the second half well and Gold won a free=kick a minute after the restart. Miller swung the ball in but  Mick O’Byrne just couldn’t get enough on his header and the ball went wide. A couple of minutes later Ryan Haxton, Gold and Meechan combined to set up Anderson but he fired his shot from 20 yards out over the bar.
Anson was then allowed to turn onto his left foot and fired in a shot from 25 yards which Hughes did well to turn behind.
Ladeside then passed up chances when firstly Gold fed Brannan who held off his defender but Halliwell saved at his near post before Ciran Donnelly headed just wide from Brannan cross. Brannan again had a chance after a break up field by Meechan who set up Brannan but his 20-yard effort flew just over the bar.
Shettleston started to force Ladeside back after they were awarded a succession of free-kicks and after McEwan played a long ball into the box it broke back to Halliday who shot wide from the edge of the box.
Shettleston equalised five minutes from time, when another long ball into the box eventually broke to Frances at the edge of the box and he fired in a shot which took a deflection before going past Hughes into the net.
Kilbirnie had a couple of efforts to win the match in added on time when firstly Gold fired into the side net and then Adam Forde and Anderson combined to play in Matt Bennett but he fired his shot straight at Halliwell..
