ON-form striker Iain Reid is hoping to help Ardrossan Winton Rovers challenge for promotion and enjoy an extended run in the Scottish Junior Cup after taking his tally to five goals in five games on Saturday.

And manager Chris Strain Snr was impressed with his team's display as they chalked up their sixth straight win, after defeating northerners Deveronside 7-3 in the second round of the national competition.

Victory set up a third round tie away to Hill of Beath on November 21.

Former Queen of the South striker Reid, who joined Winton earlier this season is impressed with the team's progress and said: "We have won every game I have played in and it's great to play alongside the likes of Gareth Turner and Ryan Caddis, who have so much experience in the game.We are on a great run and hopefully we challenge for promotion and go further in the cup. There's a great spirit in the dressing room."

Strain was encouraged with how his team played and said: "It was pleasing to score so many goals and we played really well, especially in the second half when we really took control of the match. We are on a good run and we look forward to the Hill of Beath tie. IWe beat them when I was manager at Irvine Meadow. It will be a test and I will find out more about them."

Winton on Saturday host Shotts Bon Accord in a Super First Division match.

Strain expects a tough test and said: "We are on a great run and hope to keep it going but know it will be difficult as Shotts are a good side. We will aim to win the game."

Meanwhile Saltcoats Victoria boss Derek Frye was relieved man as his side chalked up their first win of the season.

They defeated Easthouses Lily Welfare in a Scottish Junior Cup second round replay.

Frye said: "We really should have won the first game at Campbell Park but it's great to be through. We have a very difficult league match away to Irvine Victoria pn Saturday but can hopefully take something from it."
