PETERSHILL 1

KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 1

LADESIDE were held by a determined home team who came from behind to snatch a point.

Brough had the first chance for the hosts when he headed well wide from a Craig corner in five minutes.

Three minutes later Ladeside had their first effort on goal when Kyle Rafferty picked up a Matt Bennett throw-in and he fired a shot from 25 yards which went well over the bar.

Chances were few and it took until the half hour before McLean linked up with Craig on the right edge of the box but his volley went wide.

David Anderson then had a good run from midfield and looked to go through the Petershill defence but he was brought down right on the edge of the box. Darren Miller struck the resulting free-kick low round the wall but McNeil saved well diving low to his left to push the ball away. Ladeside were dealt a blow three minutes from half-time when influential midfielder Anderson was caught on the head while making a challenge and had to go off due to a nasty cut to be replaced by Kieran Brannan.

Brannan almost made an impact seconds into the second half when the ball was played forward and it broke back to him 25 yards out but his effort went wide.

Ladeside broke the deadlock in 53 minutes when Rafferty picked the ball up in centre midfield and played the ball forward to Steven Meechan on the right hand edge of the box and he volleyed first time into the far top corner of the net.

Kilbirnie were dealt another blow 12 minutes later when Brannan limped off with a thigh injury to be replaced by Graham Boyd.

Kieran Hughes then made a great double save to keep Ladeside in front.

Petershill equalised in 75 minutes when ex-Ladeside man Chris Craig picked up a throw-in on the left-hand edge of the box and fired in a shot which beat Hughes but came off the inside of the far post and into the net.

Ladeside pushed forward and a ball through to Boyd saw him get past Ketterer out on the left but he was brought down by the defender when it looked as if he was clear. Ketterer was only booked, although he appeared to prevent a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Adam Forde set up Ryan Haxton who crossed low into the box but Ian Gold’s effort was blocked.

Three minutes into added time Ladeside were denied a stonewall penalty when Miller crossed the ball from the right into the six-yard box and it clearly struck the hand of Ketterer which denied Gold behind him.
