FOCUSED Kilbirnie Ladeside manager Stephen Swift is confident his team can win Saturday's Scottish Junior Cup replay after being held at Valefield Park on Saturday.

But he is warning his players to be more clinical in front of goal following the 0-0 draw in a home third round tie against Dundee Violet which set up a rematch on Tayside.

Swift feels his team should have won the tie at the first time of asking and said: "The pleasing thing this season is that we have kept nine clean sheets and have not lost at home since February. It has been difficult as our two strikers Adam Forde and Kevin Turner have just been back for a couple of weeks after being injured. But we created a lot of chances on Saturday and their goalie made some wonder saves. It summed up our luck when a Steven Meechan hit Adam Forde on the goal-line when it looked like going into the net. But we must be more clinical in front of goal."

The manager is confident his side will come through although is taking nothing for granted and said: "If we create the kind of chances we did on Saturday and take them we should go through. We will have to be at our bes as Dundee Violet will feel they have nothing to lose. But it's important to still be in the Scottish Cup after Christmas."

Garnock Valley rivals Beith also have to do it all again after drawing 0-0 away to Girvan.

Manager Johnny Millar is hopeful his troops can come through Saturday's replay at Bellsdale Park.

He admitted it had been a tough game and said: "Conditions were difficult and we created chances although their goalie made some good saves. I'm just pleased to still be in the competition. Girvan are a good side with a lot of experienced players and you can see how they were doing so well in the league. But hopefully we can win the replay at home."

Striker Kenny Miller added: "I'm confident we can come through the tie at home if we take our chances. We want to have a good run in the Scottish Cup."

Meanwhile Kilwinning Rangers manager Chris Strain Jnr praised his side as they advanced to the last 32 of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 home win against Sauchie

Strain felt his team coped well and said: "We showed great spirit to come back after losing an early goal although the guys are adamant the ball didn't cross the line. Conditions were tough and we had to adapt to them. It was good to see Barry Fleeting scoring and great o be through to the fourth round."

Buffs have no game on Saturday but the following week host Largs Thistle.

Strain said: "The cup is over until January but we must focus on trying to get into the promotion mix in the league."
