SHATTERED Kilbirnie Ladeside midfielder Darren Miller admitted it was a "bad day at the office" as his side lost their proud 10-month unbeaten record at Valefield Park.

But he insists the Garnock Valley side are determined to put the 2-0 home West of Scotland Cup defeat against Glenafton Athletic behind them by focusing on the Premier Division and Scottish Junior Cup.

It was their first game in three weeks following a weather enforced lay-off but former Irvine Meadow man Miller is already looking to the future.

He said: "It was a bad day at the office as we could have played all day and not scored. We missed a few chances, especially in the second half. We were pushing for an equaliser when Glenafton got a soft penalty. I don't think there was much in the challenge. Possibly we were a bit rusty. It was disappointing to lose at home but we have already put it behind us and have to move on."

Ladeside will take on Auchinleck Talbot in a Premier Division match on Sunday, January 3, with the venue still to be confirmed. They are in league action the following Saturday and on January 16 host East Coast big guns Tayport in the fourth round of the national competition.

Miller added: "We can now focus on trying to push up the league and get as high as we can in the table and progressing in the Scottish Cup. "

Meanwhile Saltcoats Victoria boss Derek Frye saluted his team as they finally chalked up a first league win of the season.

They defeated Muirkirk 4-2 away.

Frye was encouraged with their performance and said: "We have been playing well and I would say a win had been coming. It was good to score four goals away from home and hopefully we can build on it now.. We still have 12 league games to play so we will be looking to pick up some more wins and hopefully we can finish mid-table."

Ardrossan Winton Rovers, meanwhile defeated Rutherglen Glencairn 3-0 at Winton Park.

Boss Chris Strain Snr was heartened with the performance and said: "We played well and it was an important win. It was good to see Graham Boyd scoring on his debut and he took his goal well. Hopefully a couple more wins could get us into the promotion mix."
