SKATING skills were showcased and festive fun was also enjoyed at a special event organised by a Stevenston club.

Santa Claus took time out from his busy schedule to don his skates for the Auchenharvie Ice Dance and Figure Skating Club Christmas Party, which was held at Harvies ice rink on December 19

More than100 skaters from the club’s membership and their busy SK8 UK learn to skate programme joined Santa, impressing him with their amazing jumps and spins.

For their efforts, all skaters received a gift of a selection box, donated to Santa by Maxwell Bruce Recruitment.

The party was a great opportunity for the skaters – some aged as young as three - to let their hair down to some Christmas tunes after a busy year of learning, training and competing.

After a short festive break the club, training for club members resumes in Auchenharvie Leisure Centre this coming Sunday, January 3, at 6am.

And on Saturday, January 9. SK8 UK classes re-start with a new block of lessons. At £24 for six weeks, these lesson provide a fantastic beginning to skating, whether you want to move on to figure skating, ice hockey or just enjoy the ice with pals. Lessons are also available for adults.
