JUBILANT Kilbirnie Ladeside boss Stephen Swift saluted his team as they swept into the last 16 of the Scottish Junior Cup.

Now he feels they can go further after being handed a favourahle fifth round tie when the draw for the national competition was made in Glasgow on Tuesday.

They saw off east coast big guns Tayport 3-0 at Valefield Park and now face the winners of the outstanding fourth round tie between unfancied Glenrothes and Hermes away on Saturday, February 13.

Swift was delighted with the result.

But he still feel his side are capable of more and said: "We didn't play brilliantly but it's the sign of a good team that we won the game. Defensively we were excellent and it was great to keep another clean sheet. Our goalie Kieran Hughes had a great game and also saved a penalty and our full-back Ryan Haxton played well.

Asked about the fifth round draw he said: "It could have been worse. But we will prepare properly for it and I feel we have a good chance of going through."

Ladeside on Saturday head to Loch Park to face table toppers Glenafton Athletic in the Premier Division.

Swift is relishing the challenge and said: "We must look to win as we would go two points clear of them and that would be put us in a good position. The target is to make the top three.!

Beith Juniors boss Johnny Millar praised his team as they joined Ladeside in the last 16 with a 5-1 win away to Scone Thistle. They now host Premier Division rivals Petershill in the fifth round.

Millar said: "It was a potential banana skin, but we dominated the match and deserved to win, we took our chances. We have an important home league game against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on Saturday and must look to take three points.

Meanwhile Beith coach Tam Miller is expecting a tough tie against Petershill and said: "It's a 50-0 game and should be close. We drew 2-2 with them at home in August and lost 1-0 away in December. But we have only lost once at home this season so hopefully we can come through."

Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain is relishing a home fifth round tie against the winners of Saturday's replay between Irvine Meadow and Linlithgow Rose.

He said: "We will be underdogs whoever we play but I fancy our chances against anyone at home. The fans would love the Meadow match but Linlithgow would bring a good crowd."
