IRVINEgolfer Alan Tait is anchoring a new weekly online radio show which went on air for the first time this week.

The former Irvine Times and Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald columnist, who is now the Director of Golf at Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club and a well-known pundit is anchoring the Scottish Golf Radio Show.

Alan was lucky enough to play around the world over with some of the greats of the game, including Sir Nick Faldo and the late, great Seve Ballesteros.

But his main claim to fame came when he played with Ben Crenshaw, then Masters Champion) and Tiger Woods in the 1995 Scottish Open at Carnoustie a year after shooting a course record 64.

The Scottish Golf Radio Show will be available to listeners in a new podcast format every week until the end of the season.

A CSBS production for Scottish Golf and sponsored by Edinburgh-based Saltire Roofing, the 35-minute show will be available to download every Tuesday lunchtime, bringing golfers across the country a regular diet of the latest news, exclusive interviews, club features and competitions.

The weekly podcast will cover all areas of the game in Scotland, from the club scene to the world’s top professional tour events, featuring news from the nation’s amateur championships to interviews with some of the game’s great characters.

Tait will be joined in the studio by a special guest on each show, while the programme will also visit clubs up and down the country to get an insight into some of the great work taking place at a local level.

Newspaper golf columnist Martin Dempster teed off the first show alongside Tait on Tuesday, before former Ryder Cup player turned Sky Sports on-course reporter, Andrew Coltart, and three-time European Tour winner Richie Ramsay appear on the podcast to look ahead to The Masters and the start of the domestic season.

Listeners will have the opportunity to win weekly prizes, with clubs invited to put themselves forward to be featured on the show. The programme will also be in attendance at many of the big events coming up in Scotland this summer, including the Scottish Hydro Challenge, Aberdeen Asset Management Men’s and Ladies Scottish Opens and The Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Tait said: “I’m really looking forward to hosting the Scottish Golf Radio Show and giving golf fans something to tune into on a weekly basis. There are so many great things happening in the game and so much to talk about that we felt there was a huge gap in the market to air a radio show.

“I’m delighted that Scottish Golf and our sponsors Saltire Roofing are investing in the programme and I would encourage all golf fans to download the podcast and listen in.”
