HOTSHOT striker Liam Caddis has left Ardrossan Winton Rovers to return to the Senior football ranks.

The former St Johnstone targetman was last week snapped up by League One club Stirling Albion and played in Saturday's 3-0 home win against Clyde.

Liam (24), brother of club captain Ryan was recruited by boss Sandy MacLean at the start of the season.

MacLean said: "It's a great opportunity for Liam and we wont stand in his way. Dave Mackay is the manager at Stirling and they played together at St Johnstone. He will be missed as he scored 18 goals in 18 games. We have options upfront and will see who is available elsewhere but are not rushing into anything,"

The boss was encouraged with the display in their 4-1 win at Ardeer and said: "It was hard-fought but we played well."

Winton on Saturday host Annbank United and MacLean said: "It will be tough as we beat them 4-3 away with the last kick of the ball but we are looking for three points."

Meanwhile ambitious Dalry Thistle manager Gavin Friels is targeting a top four finish after his side produced one of their best performances.

Thistle defeated second-placed Whitletts Vics 2-1 to leave them sixth in the Ayrshire District League.

The boss is encouraged with progress and said: "That was one of our best displays of the season. We have two games coming up, against Maybole on Saturday and Muirkirk. If we win at the weekend we will beat our points tally for last season. The aim is to finish in the top four."

Friels was encouraged with the displays of goalkeeper Blair Lochhead and defender Andy Hunter, both on loan from Glenafton Athletic.
