IT had reached nine in a row, a figure which won’t be lost on either side of the Old Firm when Billy Walker and his charges arrived at Ardrossan Masonic for the Annual festive challenge match between the two leagues - The Three Towns Trophy in memory of John Munn.

Walker had captured the very first title in 2007 as vice-captain to Billy Mitchell before taking the Premiership reins for the foreseeable future.

League Secretary Mitchell with Treasurer Peter McBlain presented Anne Munn with a cheque for £500 towards the Munn family charity as the teams raised a glass in the traditional toast to the man himself.

The usual suspects were in attendance, however the Championship is a particularly cut-throat Division this Season and their squad was bolstered with large contingents from the home team, the Victoria Bar and both Jack’s outfits.

Mitchell together with Vice Joe Munn placed the Singles first and they took the lead 3-1. It was extended first to 7-1 then 11-1 and 14-2 before the Premiership staged the expected fightback, clawing the match back to 14-7 heading into the final third of the Singles.

Of the remaining 12 the Championship won eight to take a 22-11 half -time lead.

Walker produced his players first in the Doubles which allowed Mitchell to match up what he imagined were winning combinations.

The first set was split two apiece however the Championship turned the heat up winning the next two sets 3-1 to move further ahead 38-19 ,effectively ending the contest.

The match concluded with a score of 40-25 win for the Championship.
