HURLFORD AFC 3

ARDROSSAN CASTLE ROVERS 0

CASTLE faced high-flying second-placed Hurlford in a testing match.

They started the game on the front foot and were very unfortunate to not go in at half-time goals up. The visitors had a goal wrongly chopped off and a penalty denied in the first half as well as missing a host of chances.

The Ardrossan side started the second half the way they ended the first being in complete control until the hour when the hosts scored a free-kick which deflected into the bottom corner.

The boys were unlucky not to be level when they had another strong claim denied by the referee after the ball looked to have crossed the line.

Rovers doubled their lead against the run of play and dominated late on, scoring again to make it 3-0.

Castle had another strong spot-kick claim turned down late on.

The scoreline flattered the hosts as Castle played well.

Castle man-of-the match, sponsored by Spicy Hut, Ardrossan was Maxwell Davidson.

ARDROSSAN CR: Pollock; Smith, Davidson, Brooke's, Morgan, Wieringa, McLeod, Higgins, Kilpatrick, Beveridge, Henry. Subs. Forbes, Lundy, Coyle.

Castle now take on West Kilbride on Saturday in a West of Scotland Cup last 32 tie. Kick-off is at 1.30pm.
