SALTCOATS VICTORIA 0

WHITLETTS VICTORIA 6

By Matt Speirs

WHITLETTS bounced back from their shock defeat at the hands of Ardeer to beat a makeshift Saltcoats team with ease.

Indeed if it had not been for the Saltcoats keeper Sean Kirkland, the winning margin would have been larger.

The visiting side's first chance came in two minutes when Paul Cameron's shot was well saved by Kirkland.

Five minutes later a double save by Kirkland denied first Craig Harvey and then Darren Baird. Tony Balfour had a chance for Whitletts in 10 minutes but he shot wildly

over the bar.

Blair Anderson was next to have a go four minutes later, but again Kirkland saved his effort.

Whitletts finally took the lead in 17 minutes, Craig Harvey picking up a pass from Chris Black and slipped the ball into the net.

The second goal arrived eight minutes later when Craig Harvey shot low past Kirkland.

Four minutes later Harvey set up Chris Black and the midfielder netted.

With Whitletts in complete command, it was no surprise when Darren Baird coolly netted a fourth goal in 34 minutes.

The Seasiders' only chance in the game a minute after the interval but Stephen Reid shot wide.

Victoria's fifth goal came in 51 minutes when Darren Baird set up Balfour who rounded the keeper and shot into the net.

The scoring was completed in the seventy first minute Niall Kennedy squaring the ball to Black who gave Sean Kirkland no chance with a fine shot.
