CAMERON THISTLE 2

KSC ROYALS 2

ROYALS were surprisingly held by the visitors in a game they dominated.

The hosts created nine clearcut goal scoring chances within the first 16 minutes as they caused havoc with the three-man Thistle defence, but they could not put the ball away.

Some great attacking play down the right hand side by Jack Cummings had Thistle constantly on the back foot. On three occasions, the ball went along the Thistle goal-line but some good defending meant they couldn't capitalise.

In 22 minutes Thistle gained a corner from their first attack and managed to finish well with a powerful header.

A minute later, some nice link up play in midfield saw Sean Davis find space on the 18-yard line, forcing the Thistle keeper into a great save.

After the break Royals were more positive about going down the wings and putting defenders on the back foot. This approach then this led to the equaliser 10 minutes later.

Cameron Lockhart played a lovely flick to Liam McKie who took on the Thistle defender, getting to the byline and drilling the ball across for Sean Davis to put away his fourth goal in two games.

This sparked Thistle into life but some tenacious defending and quick counter play, KCS managed to keep them at bay.

In 67 minutes another marauding run by Cummings won Royals a free-kick at the edge of the Thistle box. Jarod Kiefer out-thought the Thistle defence and played an unexpected low ball into the box for midfield stalwart John Monan to coolly slide the ball past the advancing keeper.

Late on visiting goalie Drew Kiefer had a great save from a long range effort, tipping the ball onto the bar.

With eight minutes left, Thistle played a long ball to their left midfield. Right-back Christopher Kay had a Stevie Gerrard-esque slip on the grass park, giving the Thistle player room to score the equaliser.
