TWO members of Shibumi Karate Club, Saltcoats jetted off to Japan to represent their country.

James Campbell (24) from Saltcoats and James Sinclair (24) from Stevenston represented Scotland at The Japan Karate Association, European Karate Championships in the Netherlands.

Although they didn't win anything, both competitors performed well.

Campbell and Sinclair have spent a huge amount of time training at the Saltcoats Dojo to reach this standard and have represented Scotland on numerous occasions in the past, they have trained at the club for about 12 years, each attaining black belt 3rd Dan.

Meanwhile the members of Shibumi Karate Club recently held a sponsor cycle around Millport and attracted more than 25 members with family and friends.

The fundraiser was a good fun event which was highlighted at the end with all the group having lunch and ice-cream in the town, before finishing the lap of the island.

The Shibumi Karate Club have raised more than £3000 so far this year for their funds and thanks goes to everyone who contributed.

As part of the club's ongoing fundraising this year, they also took a number of adults and children up to the top of Goat Fell on Arran.

The fearsome group, aged from seven to 50, completed the day out and all supported each other, resting for lunch at the top and ensuring they took all the rubbish back down the hill.
