AMBITIOUS Ardrossan Winton Rovers have shown they mean business by snapping up six players in a summer signing spree.

The Winton Park club are planning a District League title assault and manager Sandy MacLean is delighted with his new recruits.

Marquee signing is undoubtedly former Largs Thistle captain and striker Kevin Struthers.

Also on board are Struthers' former team-mate and defender Eddie Walton, midfielder Alan Muir, striker Jamie McKenna, goalkeeper Bryan Tucker and striker/midfielder Dylan McLaughlin.

MacLean said: "Hopefully that should just about be us in terms of signings. The new players run through the spine of the team and it's great to get them in.

He is especially excited to land Struthers and said: "Kevin brings a real desire to succeed that will help drive on the whole club."

Struthers was at Largs for seven years, playing under MacLean for part of the time.

He said: "Sandy signed me seven years ago and he left and came back to the club. I was club captain for three years and won three promotions. I loved my time at Largs but this was a different challenge, once I spoke to Sandy about Winton I felt it was the right move.

"The club are heading towards the Premier League and that's where we want to go. We have set targets and goals and targets and this is an exciting place to be."

Tucker said: "I have played for Greenock High School FP for the last couple of years and always fancied coming back to the Juniors. We want to win the league with the set up the club deserves to be in the big league."

Added striker McKenna who joins from Port Glasgow Juniors said: "I hope to run amok, I got 21 goals last season and I have 63 goals in the last three seasons. I hope to keep scoring and get the boys promoted."

Striker/midfielder McLaughlin, who was with McKenna at Port Glasgow last season said: "Sandy contacted me to see if I would be interested in playing and Jamie was down on the same night. When I saw him it gave me more of an ambition to be here. I want to find my position in the team and get a good run of games. Hopefully we can be promoted."

Muir, who played for MacLean at Largs and Arthurlie has taken on a player/coach role and said: "I kept in contact with Sandy since playing for him. We are hoping to push on and the eventual aim is to gain promotion to the Super Premier League."
