ON-form Kilwinning golf ace Connie Jaffrey and West Kilbride youngster Louise Duncan will fly the flag for Scotland at two prestigious events next month.

Newly-crowned Scottish Amateur champion Connie, who was victorious 10 days ago at Royal Aberdeen, is an automatic selection through the World Amateur Golf Ranking for the Scottish team lining up in the European Ladies Team Championship in Montado, Portugal.

The event runs from July 11 to 15.

Louise is in the national squad for the European Girls Team Championship, which is being played on the same dates in St Laurence, Finland. She is joined in the squad by fellow Ayrshire youngster Hazel MacGarvie of Troon Ladies.

David Patrick, National Women’s and Girls’ Coach said: “On the women’s side, all players have shown good form throughout the year so it’s been one of the toughest teams to make for a while. We’re looking to get into the top eight matchplay stage in Portugal and then anything is possible after that. On the girls’ side, again the players have progressed. All the girls have played either Europeans or Home Internationals before, so for the first time in quite a few years we’re going with some experience. Again, we’re looking to reach the knockout, but we know it will be tough. There is an expectation they can do better than in previous years.”
