Camp goers were also lucky to have Team GB and Commonwealth Games athlete Rachel Hunter from Ayr down for two days passing on some tips of how to get to the top of the sport. American College athlete Tara Park was also involved in delivering some coaching masterclasses.

Nearly 100 young athletes from all over the community8 descended on the North Ayrshire athletics arena at St Matthew's Academy in Saltcoats for four days of running, jumping and throwing.

The camp, which had an Athletics World Championships theme saw youngsters trying to emulate the top performers with lots of coaching and games from the club's qualified coaching volunteers.

Club community coach and camp director Halle Stewart said: "This was a fantastic summer camp, all the participants had a ball and we were delighted we could bring in three top class athletes to add another dimension to the camp this year. The camp was fully booked weeks before it started which is also a great sign to see such a demand for the sport of athletics in North Ayrshire."
