NORTH Ayrshire Athletics Club (NAAC) athletes were spread far and wide on what was another busy and successful weekend of competition.

After a fantastic run at the West District Cross Country championships in December, Mary Jane McInally qualified for the Inter District Championships which were held in Edinburgh on Saturday.

Mary Jane was one of 15 from the West to qualify and ran a fantastic race, finishing in a time of 12.44. This placed her in 16th overall less than 10 seconds outside the top 10. Mary Jane was fourth fastest from the West and really did herself proud.

Also in Edinburgh, four NAAC youngsters competed in the Simply Health Junior Edinburgh Winter Run. For the girls, Adele Street finished seventh out of 38 in her category with a time of 10.37. The boys were represented by Harris and Innes McNicol and Alasdair Street. Times of 10.12, 10.59 and 11.09 placed them in 5th, 19th and 25th respectively in a field of 126 runners.

To the Emirates arena in Glasgow, NAAC had 14 athletes competing over a wide range of track and field events. There were fantastic performances and personal bests galore as the club athletes continue to hold their own on the national stage.
