METICULOUS Beith Juniors boss Johnny Millar is leaving no stone unturned as he plots the downfall of weekend visitors Lochee United.

He has secured a dossier on Saturday's quarter-final opponents from Irvine Meadow manager Brian McGinty, whose team went down 2-0 at home to the Dundee team in the last 16 at Meadow Park last month.

Millar steered Beith to Scottish Cup glory two seasons ago and it's 20 years since he won it for the second time as a player with Arthurlie.

The boss said: "We had a friendly against Meadow a couple of weeks ago and Brian gave me a good rundown of their strengths and weaknesses, which was helpful. I would have seen them last weekend but their game was off although I have also watched them on video. But we are at home and hopefully we can get through. We made the final a couple of years ago and we all want to get back there this time,"

McGinty is also hopeful Beith can progress and said "We were poor that day and it was disappointing to go out. But I think Beith should take care of Lochee."

Meanwhile experienced striker Keir Milliken said: "The guys are looking forward to the tie and the season has been stop-start with call-offs but it has been an exceptionally bad winter so there's nothing we can do. We seem to have mainly played cup ties in the last few weeks. But at least we got a friendly in against Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Saturday.

"Winton did us a real favour letting us get a game in before the cup. Once we started playing, the pitch wasn't too bad and it was good to score a goal."

The target man is encouraged with Beith's progress and said: "It's been stop-start and we have been mainly playing cup ties. We look forward to Saturday. Lochee had a good result at Meadow and must be a pretty decent side to get this far. But we have a huge incentive to get through as we would be in the semi-finals and we must make the most of home advantage.

Winton, meanwhile head to Rosebank Park, Lugar looking to end their recent poor run of form.

The Ardrossan side are aiming to finish in the top seven, which would ensure a place in next season's League One in the West Region re-structure.
